" THE HOLY
PROPHET (SALLAL LAAHU ALAIHI WASALLAM) IS NOOR "
We are
living in a world of uncertainty and misconceptions. Man is beginning to
question the very roots of his beliefs about Allah Almighty and the Holy Prophet
Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim, to create doubt in the minds of the
simple and un suspecting Muslims.
Here is
proof from QUR'AN, Ahadith-e-Nabawi (Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam), Sayings of
Sahab-e-Kiram and from the writings of great and authentic scholars of Islam
which show beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Messenger of Allah Sall Allahu
alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim is NOOR.
Tere Nasle Paak me he bacha bacha Noor ka
Too he Aine Noor tera sub gharana Noor ka
The Aqida
of the Ahle Sunnat Wa Jama'at is that Rasool (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is
Nur (Light) and human. The being and existence of the Prophet (sallal laahu
alaihi wasallam) is even before that of humans but when he came into this world
he came in the garb of a human. It should be noted that originality does not
change by the changing of a garb. Just as Hadrat Jibraeel Ameen (Alaihis Salaam)
is Nur but when He used to go before Hadrat Maryam (Alaiha Salaam) he used to be
in the form of human. Concerning this Almighty Allah states in the Holy Quran:
"Thus He used to appear before her in the form of a healthy (well built)
man"
In the Ahadith of Mishkaatul Masabih, Narration has been made by? The second
khalifa of Islam Hadrat Umr Farouk (radi Allahu anhu). He states:
"Once? we were in the presence of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam).
A man came to us. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) asked
Hadrat Umr Farouk (radi Allahu anhu), "Do you know who that person was? Hadrat
Umar Farouk (Radi Allahu anhu) said, "Almighty Allah and His beloved Rasool (sallal
laahu alaihi wasallam) know better." The Prophet (Sallal laahu alaihi wasallam)
said, "That is Jibraeel (Alaihis Salaam)." (Mishkaat - ul - Masabih -
Bukhari Shareef)
It is obvious that the Sahaba referred to Hadrat Jibraeel (Alaihis Salaam) as a
man since they had seen him the
form of a human being. Black hair, hands, legs, eyes, ears and a nose. All these
are human qualities yet it is
obvious that he is not human but an Angel who is nur/noor. As it is well known
to the people of knowledge that in the hadith it has come many a time? about how
Hadrat Jibraeel (Alaihis Salaam) came into the court of the Holy Prophet
Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) as a Human. On many instances he came in
the form of Sahabi e Rasool Hadrat Wahia Kalbi (Radi Allahu anhu). This has also
been proven by one of the so called knowledgeable persons of the wahabi jamaat :
"And verily Allah has informed us that the Angels came to Hadrat Ebrahim (alaihis
salaam) in the form of human and the angels appeared before Hadrat Maryam (alaiha
salaam) in the exact human form and Hadrat Jibraeel (alaihis salaam) used to
come before the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) in the form of Hadrat
Wahia kalbi and in the form of a villager and the people used to always see him
this way." (Al Furqan bainal Awliyah ur Rahman wa shaitaan, page 41)
What
the HOLY BOOK (Qur'an) have to say about this subject:
ALLAH Ta'aala Says in the Holy Quran:
1. "Surely, there comes from ALLAH a Light and a illuminated Book" (Al-Quran,
Al-Maidah - 15)
The Imam of all the Mufasireen of the Ummahe Muhammadi (sallal laahu alaihi
wasallam) Hadrat Abdullah ibn Abbas (radi Allahu anhu) has stated concerning the
Tafseer of the ayat He states:
"Surely, there comes from ALLAH a Light, refers to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal
laahu alaihi wasallam)." (Tafseer ibn Abbas pg 72 - Published Egypt)
(More References: Sharah Shifa Shareef - page 42 Vol 1, Tafseer-e-Kabeer Vol 3
page 348, Tafseer Ibn Jareer
Al-Tibri Vol2 page 161)
2. "Disbelievers desire to extinguish ALLAH's Light, with their mouths. But
He will not allow that except to flourish this light, though the disbelievers do
not like it" (Al-Quran, Al-Tawba - 32)
3. "O communicator of Unseen, We did not send you, but as a present and seeing,
a bearer of glad tidings and a warner as one who invites people towards ALLAH,
by his permission, and as a lamp spreading light"
4. "They want to extinguish ALLAH's Light with their mouths, but ALLAH will
complete his light. Though the disbelievers detest it" (Al-Quran, Al-Saffat -
39)
5. "ALLAH, is the Light of Heavens and the Earth. The parable of His Light is
like a Niche, within it is a lamp and that lamp is in a glass and that glass is
like a brilliant star" (Al-Quran, Al-Noor - 35)
All these verses of Holy Quran indicates that Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him)
was created from NOOR (Light) by ALLAH Ta'aala.
What
the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) himself have to say about this subject:
1. Pupil of Imam Malik and the teacher of Imam Ahmed Bin Hanbal and Hafizul
Hadith Abdul Razzak Abu Bakr Bin
Hamman, the teacher of the teachers of Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim, in his Book
"Musannaf", has narrated from Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah Ansari and his son (radi
Allahu anhum), that he asked the Holy Messenger of ALLAH Ta'aala (Peace Be Upon
Him)
"O Prophet of Allah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) ! My parents be sacrificed
upon you, What did the Almighty Allah first create?" The Prophet (sallal laahu
alaihi wasallam) replied: "Allah first created my Noor (Light) of His Noor. This
Noor traveled about according to the Will of Allah. At that time, there was no
Heaven, Hell, Lawh (Divine Tablet), Pen, Earth, Skies, Sun, Moon, Jinn or Human
Beings. When He decided to create, He divided that Noor into four parts. From
one part He created the Pen, from the second, the Lawh and from the third, he
made the Arsh Throne). He divided the fourth part into a further four parts.
From one, He created those Angels who carry the Arsh, from the second, the Kursi
(Divine Chair) and from the third, He created the Angels. He again divided the
remaining parts into a further four parts. From one, He created the skies. The
second was used in creating the planets. From the third, Heaven and Earth were
created. Once again, He divided the fourth part into a further four parts. From
one part He created the power with which the believers see. From the second, He
created in the hearts of the Believers the Noor of Marifat. From the third, He
created in the tongues of the Believers, Noor, so that they can read the Kalima
of Tauheed".

2. Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) said : “When my mother gave birth to me
she saw a light proceeding from her which showed her the castles of Syria”

3. Allama Jauzi in his KITABUL WAFA narrates a hadith from Hazrat Abdullah
ibn Abbas, the cousin of the Holy Prophet Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim:
"Allah's Rasul had no shadow, not while standing in the sun, but the brilliance
of his Noor surpassed the rays of the sun; nor while sitting before a burning
light, but his luminous Noor excelled the luster of the light".
4. Imam Jalaludeen Suyuti in his KHASAAISUL KUBRA "This is also a unique
feature of the Holy Prophet Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim that his
shadow did not touch the ground, because he was Noor, and when he used to walk
in the sunshine his shadow could not be seen".
Tu Hay Saaya Noor Ka har uz'w tukra noor ka
Saaiey ka saaya na hota hay na saaya noor ka
5. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) has stated, "The
very first thing which Almighty Allah created was my Noor."

6. Shareh Bukhari Imam Ahmad Qistalaani (radi Allahu anhu) states in his most
distinguished work "Mustataab Muwahibul ladaniyah" that narration has been made
by Hadrat Imam Zainul Abedeen (radi Allahu anhu) who narrates from His father
Hadrat Imam Husain (radi Allahu anhu) who narrates from His father Hadrat Ali
Mushkil Kusha (radi Allahu anhu) that the Holy prophet (sallal laahu alaihi
wasallam) has stated," 14000 years before the creation of Hadrat Adam (Alaihis
Salaam) I was a noor by my creator."
(Ref: Muwahibul ladaniyah pg 10 vol 1 - Zirkani Shareef pg 49 vol 1 - Jawahirul
Biharul Nibhaani page? 774 -
Anwaarul Muhammadiya pg 9 - Hujjatullahi Alal Alameen - Tafseer Roohul Bayaan pg
370 vol 2).
7. Hazrat Abu Huraira (Radi ALLAH Anho) narrates "Once Holy Prophet (Peace be
Upon Him) asked Jibril
(Alaihissalam) about his age, Jibril Replied "I only know that after every
70,000 years a STAR appears and i have seen that STAR 72000 times, then Prophet
(Peace Be Upon Him) replied "I am that STAR". (Ref: Jawahirul Bihar page
886)
After examining these sayings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi
wasallam) it is as bright and clear as the sun that the Holy Prophet (sallal
laahu alaihi wasallam) explained Himself being noor in a very clear manner to
His Ummah. Thus those who oppose and contradict the Nooraniyat of the Holy
Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). There ways and methods are against that
of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam).
What
the Glorious Sahaba Ikram have to say about this subject:
Now let us examine the Aqida (belief) of the Glorious Sahaba Ikram who are
guiding beacons for us.
1. Renowned Muhaditheen of the Ummahe Muhammadi (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam)
Allamah Muhadith Baihiqi and Hadrat Allamah Yusuf Nibhaani have explained the
belief of Hadrat Abu Bakr siddique (radi Allahu anhu) from one of his stanzas in
praise of the Hoy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). "Muhammad Mustapha (sallal
laahu alaihi wasallam) is the Honest and is the one who brings you towards good.
His light takes away darkness like the full moon." (Dalail-un-Nabuiwat pg
228 vol 1 - Jawahirul Bihaar pg 96 vol 1).
2. The fourth khalifa of Islam, The true khalifa of Islam Hadrat Ali Murtuza
(radi Allahu anhu) states, "When the Beloved of Allah (sallal laahu alaihi
wasallam) used to speak then noor could be seen emerging from between his
blessed teeth." (Muwahibul Ladaniyah pg 27 vol 1 - Anwaarul Muhammadiyah
page 132 - Zirkaani Shareef).
3. After gaining victory and success in Ghazwa Tabook when Rasoolullah (sallal
laahu alaihi wasallam) arrived in Madinatul Munawwara, Hadrat Sayyiduna Abbas (radi
Allahu anhu) requested permission of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam)
to read a few stanzas in his praise then Rahmate Alam (sallal laahu alaihi
wasallam) said, " My dear Uncle ! Go ahead. May Almighty Allah keep your mouth
well."
This is what al-`Abbas ibn `Abd al-Muttalib was indicating when he said:
... Before you came to this world,
you were excellent in the shadows and in the repository (i.e. loins)
in the time when they (Adam and Eve) covered themselves with leaves.
Then you descended through the ages...
When you were born, the earth shone
and the horizon was illuminated by your light.
We travel in that illumination and in the light and in the paths of right
guidance.”
Mullah Ali al-Qari in his ‘Sharh al-Shifa’(1:364) says it is related by Abu Bakr
al-Shafi`i and Tabarani, and cited by
Ibn `Abd al-Barr and Ibn al-Qayyim respectively in ‘al-Isti`ab’ and ‘Huda Nabiyy
Allah (Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim)’.
This has been stated in distinguished works of great Muhaditheen such as Imam
Jalaluddeen Suyuti, Muhadith ibn
Jauzi, Allamah Ibn Hajr, Allamah Halbi, Allamah Dahlaan Makki, Allamah Nibhaani,
Allamah ibn Abdul Birr, Allamah
Haakim, Allamah Ibn Kathir and Allamah Sharistaani (radi Allahu Anhumul Ajmaeen).

Talkheesul Mustadrik pg 327 vol 3).
4. The blessed and distinguished Sahabi-e-Rasool Hadrat Abu Hurairah (radi
Allahu anhu) states, "When the beloved Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam)
used to smile then the walls use to glow with his Noor."
(Ref : Muwahibul Ladaniyah pg 271 vol 1 - Anwaarul Muhammadiyah pg 133 - Shifa
Shareef pg 39 - Hashia Shamail Tirmizi pg 16 - Shera Shifa Mula Ali Qari, Hashia
Naeemur Riyaz pg 338 vol 1 - Madarijun Nabuiwat (persian) pg 12 - Hujatullahi
Alal Alameen pg 689)
5. The beloved sahabi of Huzoor Pur Noor (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam)
Hadrat Anas (radi Allahu Anhu states, "The day on which Huzoor (sallal laahu
alaihi wasallam) arrived in Madinatul Munawwara then through his noor every
thing in Madinatul Munawwara became bright."
(Ref : Tirmizi Shareef pg 202 vol 2 - Mishkaatul masabih pg 547 - Ibn Majah

Khasaisul Kubra pg 471 vol 1 - Madarijun Nabuiwat pg 81 vol 2 - Mustadrik pg 12
vol 3 - Talkheesul Mustadrik pg 12 vol 3)
6. Hadrat Sayyida Halima Sa'adiya (radi Allahu anha) who was the one
responsible for feeding milk to the Holy Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam).
The one before whom the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) used to eat
and drink. Even she believed that the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi
wasallam) was Noor and this has been explained by Allama Muhadith Ibn Jauzi and
Qazi Thanaullah Paani Pati (radi Allahu anhum) as follows: "When I used to feed
milk to the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) then I never felt the
need for a light in my house. Thus one day Umme Khula Sa'diya said, "O Halima !
Do you leave the fire burning for the entire night in your house? and I answered
by saying, "No! I swear by Almighty Allah that I do not keep the fire burning at
all. This Noor and brightness is that of Sayidduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu
alaihi wasallam). (Bayaanul Miladun Nabwi pg 54 - Tafseere Mazhari).
7. The second nurse of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) who
also fed him milk also believed that Huzoor (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is
Noor. This is obvious from one of the stanzas of the poem which she had written
at the time of the Demise of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi
wasallam). "And although verily you were Noor, A sun. And you used to give
brightness in darkness and emptiness." (Tabqaat ibn Sa'ad pg 333 vol 2)
8. Ummul Mo'mineen, Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (radi Allahu anha) is recorded to
have said: "In total dark nights, I used to put the thread into a needle with
the help of the Noor of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam)."
(Shara Shifa Bar Hashia Naseemur Riaz)
9. Imam of all the Mufasireen of the Ummahe Muhammadi (sallal laahu alaihi
wasallam) Hadrat Abdullah ibn Abbas (radi Allahu anhu) has stated concerning the
Tafseer of the ayat: "Verily came to you from the side of Allah a Light and a
bright kitaab."? He states: "Verily came towards from the side of Allah a light,
refers to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam)."
(Tafseer ibn Abbas pg 72 - Published Egypt)
After examining the Ahadith quoted by the bright Sahaba-e-Ikram it is very clear
and obvious that they accepted the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) to be
Noor. As for the deobandis who accept the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam)
only to be human and continuously say the words human, human but yet they claim
to be the Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaat. In the light of Ahadith of Sayyiduna
Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) it is clear that the claim of the
Deobandis that they are the Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaat is only a hoax and a
fraudulent act. The proper Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaah are those who accept the
Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) as Noor and they are the ones who are
known to the Deobandis as Sunnis (Bareilvis).
The Deobandis say that the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) had
wives, He had children, He used to eat and drink and it is for this reason that
He is not Noor (In other words He possessed all human qualities). The brain
capacity and the knowledge of the Deobandis is such that? they do not accept our
Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) as Noor since He had wives, children, He
ate and drank etc; but the Sahaba of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi
wasallam) also saw that He had wives, children etc; but still they accepted him
to be Noor.
What
the Aunties (Paternal) of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) have to say
about this subject:
After Examining the Belief of a few distinguished Sahaba Ikram (radi Allahu
anhum), let us examine the belief of the Aunties (Paternal) of the Prophet
(sallal laahu alaihi wasallam):
1. Hadrat Allama Abdur Rahman Jaami (radi Allahu anhu) narrates that Sayyida
Safiya the Aunty of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam)
states "On the eve of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu
alaihi wasallam) I was present at his home. I had seen that His Noor became more
powerful than the light from the lamp." (Shawaahidun Nubuiwat (Persian) pg
22)
2. After the demise of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) Hadrat
Safia (radi Allahu anha) said the following stanza due the sorrow and thought of
the demise of The Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) from which one may
conclude that she also accepted him as Noor. "I am weeping on the demise of the
Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) who was really Noor."
(Tabqaate ibn Sa'ad pg 329 vol 2).
It is obvious from the above mentioned narrations that Hadrat Safia (radi Allahu
anha) always accepted the Holy
Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) to be Noor.
3. The belief of the second Aunty of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi
wasallam), Hadrat Aatika (radi Allahu anha) also said that the Holy Prophet
(sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) was Noor. On the demise of the Holy Prophet
(sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) she said the following : "Oh eyes tear and be
sad. I am weeping in the loss of the Noor of the cities, Sayyiduna Rasoolullah
(sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). That Mustapha (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) who
is Noor. and who is filled with righteousness and Full of guidance."
(Tabqaate ibn Sa'ad pages 326/327 - Published Beirut).
4. On the demise of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) the third
aunty of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) Sayyida Arwa (radi
Allahu anhu) pointed out what she believed and which was copied by ibn Sa'ad in
his book: "Oh! Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is Noor for all the
cities. Let me have the opportunity of praising you." (Tabqaate ibn Sa'ad pg
325)
After knowing the wives and children of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi
wasallam) and even after watching him eat and drink, the blessed Aunties of the
Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) still believed that He is Noor.
What
the great scholars have to say about this subject:
Having read the words of those who had lived with the Holy Prophet Sall Allahu
alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim and had
closely watched his every action, we shall now turn to some great scholars of
Islam, whose writings are considered most authentic in Islamic affairs. Pay heed
to these to dispel any doubts that you may have regarding the subject. All these
great scholars firmly believed that the Holy Prophet Sall Allahu alaihi wa
Aalihi wa Sallim is NOOR.
1. Hazrat Imam-e-Azam Abu Hanifa (radi Allahu anhu) praises the Holy Prophet
(sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) in the following poem: "You are that Noor that
the full Moon is brightened by your Noor and you are with your beauty and
elegance a shining sun." (Qasidaul Nu'maan)
2. Syyedi Abul Hasan Al-Ashari said "ALLAH Ta'ala, is NOOR, and the Soul of
Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him), is the refulgence of that light. The angels
are Flower of this Light". (Matale-ul-Masarrat, sharah of the Book
DALAIL-UL-KHAIRAT)
3. Imam Qazi Ayaaz in his ASH-SHIFA states:" The Holy Prophet Sall Allahu
alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim did not possess a shadow in the brightness of the sun
or in the moonlight, because he was Noor (light)".
4. Sharaf al-Din al-Busiri the author of the ‘Burda’ said [in another poem]:
You (O Muhammad) are the light of every perfection, And no light takes its
source from other than your light.” (p. 68-69)
Who then can deny that Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) is not Noor (light)?
